The Advantages of Decorating Your Graduation Party Tent
Hanging decorations is a good way to make a graduation celebration feel more special. Learn the advantages of decorating your graduation party tent.
Renting a party tent helps you hold a celebration when you or someone you love graduates from high school or college. But don’t let that tent stand at your party without adding some extra flavor to it. Read below to learn the advantages of decorating your graduation party tent.
Decorations Add to the Atmosphere
One advantage of decorating tents for graduation parties is that doing so adds to the atmosphere. Although the tent itself can provide a good environment where you can celebrate, the decorations will add something extra.
Adding flair to the inside will make it feel more festive and make for a truly special occasion. Your efforts will better ensure that the graduate and the other guests know they’re in a place to have a good time.
A Tent Gives You a Blank Canvas
Another advantage of decorating your graduation party tent is that you have less to worry about when it comes to decorating. For example, if you decide to suspend streamers or banners inside your house for a party, you need to be careful about hanging them on or alongside fixtures on the wall.
However, when you decorate a tent, you have more of a blank canvas. You can hang just about anything in terms of decorations without worrying about fixtures getting in the way or suffering damage.
You Can Make It Memorable With a Theme
A third advantage of decorating your party tent is that you have the freedom to make the event more memorable with a special theme. For example, if the graduate is a movie buff, you can turn it into a film-themed graduation party with movie-oriented decorations on the inside of the tent.
One way to decorate it is by hanging posters and photos of the graduate’s favorite films. That’ll make them reflect more fondly on the party when they remember it afterward. In the end, these advantages make decorating your party tent an absolute must.
Add some color to your tent event
If you’re planning a formal event with a classic theme, black and white are the colors of choice. But, an outdoor event is a great time to have some fun with the color palette. Celebrate a spring party in a tent with some pastels. Enjoy summer with bursts of bright color. Decorate for your fall wedding with warm earth tones. There are numerous ways to add color to a tent event.
Lights: Lighting can set the mood for any tent event.
Linens: Our linens are available in over 50 different colors plus prints.
Striped tents: Many tents are available in blue and white, red and white, or yellow and white

Your event is almost here and there are a few questions we’ll be asking about installing your tent. Here they are, so you can think about them ahead of time:
Where do you want us to place the tent? Think about a location that is as level as possible and easy for your guests to access. Will you have any special considerations, such as handicapped guests? The tent can be placed on unlevel ground, but it’s not very comfortable to sit in a chair on the side of a hill. Also, please be sure that the area is clear of any furniture or obstructions before we arrive. It’s also a good idea to have the lawn mowed the day before our arrival.
Can we back our truck into your yard? We usually deliver with pickups and trailers. If we can back our truck up next to the tent site, it makes life a lot easier for us. However, we don’t want to cause any damage. So, we can hand carry everything if you’d rather that we didn’t back onto your lawn. (In that case, we’ll need cold drinks. Just kidding, we’ll be just fine!)
Are there any underground lines? We don’t want to damage lines for outdoor lighting, sprinklers, gas lines, or your pool. So, be sure to find out where they are so that we can avoid any damage to them
Do you want us to install the tent walls? They can be open or closed, but in most cases, it’s best to leave the tent as open as possible. We have a video dedicated to that decision. We can leave some walls onsite in case you need to add them later. If you want to know how to install the walls, we have easy video instructions for that as well.
Where is the power source? If you have ordered lights but not a generator, we’ll need one or more heavy duty circuits to power the lighting
Where do you want us to leave the accessories like chairs, tables, linens, flooring and extra walls?
If you have any questions of your own, feel free to contact us. 717.733.9700 Here’s wishing you an extra special event.
What to expect on delivery day
What should you expect on your tent delivery day? Watch this video to find out.
What should you expect on your tent delivery day?
It starts a few days before your delivery when you receive an email or a call from one of our schedulers notifying you of the time that we will be arriving to deliver your tent. Please confirm promptly so that we can proceed with planning all our deliveries for that day.
Normally, our crew will load their trucks a day or two before your delivery. So, if you have any changes to your order, please let us know as far ahead as possible.
To prepare for our arrival, please have the area where the tent will be installed cleared of any obstructions. If you need to mow the yard, please do that before our arrival as lawn mowers and tent crews do not mingle well! Our crew will do their best to arrive within the scheduled time range. However, weather, traffic and other unforeseen circumstances can change the schedule. Usually, our crew will arrive in a pickup truck and trailer for delivery. The crew leader will meet with you to find out exactly where the tent will be placed. He will work with you to find the best possible location for the tent. Unless you’ve already made other arrangements, he will also collect payment on arrival.
In order to speed up the delivery process, we like to park our trucks as close as possible to the tent installation spot. Our crews work quickly and efficiently. So, your tent should be installed as quickly as one hour. If it’s very large, it may take several hours.
After the tent is installed, we’ll need to know if you want us to install side walls on the tent. In most cases, we recommend leaving the tent as open as possible for fresh air and breezes. If you decide to leave the sides open, we can leave the walls onsite so that you can put them on later if the weather changes.
If you’ve rented additional accessories such as lighting, flooring, or power, we will install those things next. Tables, chairs and linens are the only items that do not include installation and removal in the rental cost. So, unless you’ve specified that you want us to set them up and re-stack them, we’ll stack those items inside the tent. Please have them stacked again when we come to pick up the tent, since we may not have time to go on a scavenger hunt just then. We look forward to serving you.

Should I close the tent walls? Video
Today we’ll be talking about tent sidewalls. During the tent installation, one of the questions we’ll ask is whether you’d like us to enclose the tent walls or leave them open. If at all possible, it’s best to keep the walls open
Today we’ll be talking about tent sidewalls. During the tent installation, one of the questions we’ll ask is whether you’d like us to enclose the tent walls or leave them open.
Here are my recommendations. If the weather is warm, keeping most of the walls open is the best idea. It will allow more airflow to keep the guests cooler. If rain is in the forecast, it’s a good idea to close only the side that the wind will be coming from. Even if cool or rainy weather is in the forecast, I recommend leaving at least one side of the tent open. The reason for this is that a tent that is totally enclosed can become very damp. Condensation can form on the tent and it can actually rain inside the tent. Of course, if it’s very cold or there are heaters in the tent, it’s best to enclose everything except the entrance
Even if you decide to leave some of the tent sides open, we can leave the extra walls onsite to close later if necessary. Below is a video with instructions on closing the walls. We hope you enjoy your outdoor celebration.

If you decide to add the damage waiver to your order, we recommend applying it to all items except for the tent itself. It's unusual that it is accidentally damaged. How to protect yourself from mosquitoes during outdoor events
If you frequently host or attend outdoor events and parties during the warmer months, then you need to know how to protect yourself and your guests from mosquitoes and other unwelcome guests that might be in attendance, and avoid the whole lot of you getting eaten alive by the bloodsucking hordes.
If you frequently host or attend outdoor events and parties during the warmer months, then you need to know how to protect yourself and your guests from mosquitoes and other unwelcome guests that might be in attendance, and avoid the whole lot of you getting eaten alive by the bloodsucking hordes. Read on to find out how. And click here for more information and tips on how to avoid mosquitoes.
Mosquito repellent
This is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of repelling mosquitoes. Most commercially bought mosquito repellents contain as their active ingredient a chemical called DEET, which affects the receptors on your skin that mosquitoes are attracted to so that the bugs find it more difficult to find you. Whilst effective at an individual level, it's not very practical for large outdoor gatherings – especially where food is involved. After all, mosquito repellent must be applied to all area of exposed skin to work properly – and your hands are one such area. Ingesting DEET via contaminated food can cause pain and discomfort – if the dose is sufficiently large, there can be serious health complications. There's simply too much risk involved in using DEET based repellents at events where food and large numbers of people are present. DEET also has quite a strong smell, which guests may find off-putting.
Mosquito Candle
This is one mosquito control method that can be successful at large events. Mosquito candles contain chemicals like citronella that have a proven track record at repelling the airborne pests. When you light the candle, chemicals spread into the air and help keep nearby mosquitoes at bay. They have quite a narrow range, though, and there's only so many mosquito candles you can use at an event held in in open, outdoor areas. They are probably not the most effective mosquito prevention tool out there for this type of situation.
Mosquito Traps
Mosquito traps work not be repelling mosquitoes but by attracting them to a certain location where they are then killed. Some of them make use of light and heat both of which are known to draw mosquitoes; others convert propane fuel into carbon dioxide, which animals exhale with every breath, and is one of the things that helps mosquitoes find us. The beauty of these latter devices is that the carbon dioxide they emit has just the temperature and moisture content that it can fool the mosquito into thinking it is coming from another animal – or for the mosquito, a potential food source. Once the mosquitoes are lured to the source of the trap, they are sucked inside using a vacuum mechanism situated near one of the exhaust vents of the trap. The mosquitoes are unable to break out of the trap and die of dehydration within a day. Mosquito traps are a much better option for outdoor events than candles, repellent or even netting, as they provide much greater coverage than those alternatives. One powerful trap can provide defense against mosquitoes over an area spanning up to one acre.
And here you have it, the best ways to protect yourself and others from mosquitoes while attending outdoors events. Hope these tips will help you keep the mosquitoes away so you can enjoy your next outdoor event to the fullest!

Should I Choose Round or Long Tables for my Outdoor Tent Event?
As you're planning an outdoor wedding, party or other event, you may wonder if you should choose round or rectangle tables. Each has its benefits and situations where it works best.
As you're planning an outdoor wedding, party or other event, you may wonder if you should choose round or rectangle tables. Each has its benefits and situations where it works best.
Benefits of rectangle banquet tables:
- They are slightly more space efficient and allow for wider aisles.
- When placed end to end, it's easier to assign seats to guests since it creates a long table with more seats.
- Long rectangle tables are available in farmhouse table style.
- They are excellent for buffet tables.
Benefits of round tables
- They are our most popular table for dining.
- There is more space in the center for food or decorations.
- It allows people sitting at the table to talk to more different people.
- They have a more intimate and less institutional feel.
Or if you'd like the benefits of both, you can mix and match round and rectangle tables for an eclectic look. Contact us today to let us help you plan your outdoor tent event.

What is the difference between a frame tent and a pole tent?
This article is part of a series of posts with further explanation on many of our frequently asked questions.
Many people wonder what the difference is between a frame tent and a pole tent. This article will be a bit more technical than most. So, I'll do my best to make it easy to understand.
Pole tents, also known as tension structures are an evolution of the earliest type of tents. The forerunners to modern pole tents were the big top circus tents of the past. They have one or more high peaks in the center. Their structure comes from the fabric itself. They can be installed quickly with no need for beams to support them. Many of today's pole tents are engineered to withstand up to 70 mph sustained winds and 90 mph gusts. Pole tents are the most economical type of tent that we offer. They are great for weddings, backyard parties and other events of all kinds. They have tall, graceful peaks and airy spacious interiors. Many people prefer this style over the more traditional square frame tent appearance. They can be installed on nearly any surface where stakes can be driven into the ground.
While pole tents fill the needs of most of our customers, there are some situations where only a frame tent will fit the bill. Frame tents, also known as clearspan structures or clearspan tents offer some unique advantages. Sometimes, tents must be secured with weights instead of driving stakes into the ground. In locations where a driveway cannot be penetrated or where underground utilities make it unsafe to drive stakes, a frame tent with weights is the perfect solution. Frame tents are much more flexible in the ways that they can secured. They can be installed on a deck, patio or even the rooftop of a building. Frame tents have other advantages as well. They have no interior poles. This is great for construction projects where machinery must work inside the tent or events where poles would obstruct the flow of people. Frame tents also work well as weather protection for a stage at a graduation ceremony or other outdoor event with a large audience. Lighting and speakers can be hung from the aluminum beams of the tent. The front of the stage can be completely unobstructed by tent poles. Frame tents can also be easily raised to a taller height to cover a stage or to allow machinery to enter the tent. Some people prefer the more modern, "Euro" appearance of a frame tent.
Still not sure which type of tent you'll need? Contact us and let our representatives find the best solution for your event. Whichever type of tent you choose, rest assured that Tents For Rent will provide you with a quality tent and excellent service to make your event successful.
How far ahead should I reserve my tent?
Reserving a few months ahead allows us to reserve just the size and color of tent and other rental items that you need.
This article is part of a series of posts with further explanation on many of our frequently asked questions.
We specialize in being able to serve customers at a moment's notice. However, most customers reserve weeks or months ahead of their event. Especially in our busiest months of May, June, July, September and October, this is important. Reserving a few months ahead gives you the widest selection of tents and other rental items.
If you're not sure about whether you'll need a tent because you don't know what the weather will be like, you can reserve a tent ahead of time to guarantee that it will be available and then cancel it if the weather forecast looks favorable. For more info see "What if it doesn't rain on my event?"
However, if you do have a last minute tent need, call us at 717.733.9700 and we'll do our best to help you.
Where can I find pricing information?
This article is part of a series of posts with further explanation on each of our frequently asked questions.
One of the first questions we get when people contact us is, "what is the price?" Everyone is looking for the best value. However, there are many variables in tent pricing. We have a wide range of tent sizes. Any rental of up to three days does not increase the price. However, renting longer than three days will increase the price incrementally. Also, your distance from our location can change the price as well. For this reason, we don't list our prices on our website. As a starting point, 80% of the weddings we serve cost between $350 and $5,000 total. This includes delivery, installation, all the accessories, removal and tax.
As you're comparing and looking at tent rental prices, remember that value is about more than just price. A great tent company provides:
Knowledgeable, courteous, professional staff
Excellent customer service
Quality tents that are designed to handle all types of weather
A company that has been in the business long enough to understand the industry well
Good reviews from other customers
A company the cleans and maintains their tents regularly
Prompt response to your inquiry
Integrity
Flexibility for last minute changes
Friendly, experienced installation crew.
Someone on call 24/7/365 should any issues arise.
